Happy Monday:
Language arts: Reviewed summarization & paraphrasing. Students did a quit activity on it. Students were introduced to KnightCite.com and began a partnered assignment practicing making a works cited page.
4th period - worked only on the summarization and paraphrasing assignment as they were a little behing the other classes. No homework for any of the classes.
Science: After we did the bellringer and the fact or fiction, I gave students some time to finish coloring their flipbooks and working on their 5 facts each (two volcanoes) on the ipads. We then got in our phone buddy group #2 and worked on the Sea floor spreading rates lab on p. 189 in the book. 8th period only students need to finish converting their average distances for peaks 1-6 (km to cm). I modeled this on the board. All other classes: no homework (unless if you were absent on Friday and need to finish the flipbook).
WV Studies: Today we finished up the explorers portion of this unit. Students were assigned a 60 point assessment on the explorers. They got directions and a rubric on how to write their 3 paragraphs. It is due: Wed. Jan. 29.
Reading: Essays were due today that were assigned on the 17th. Any student who did not turn in an essay today must turn it in tomorrow at the beginning of his/her class to be eligible for full credit. As I have begun grading them, I have found some that have been plagiarized. Any plagiarized essays will result in a zero and a possible white card. Mr. Whitt just did a lesson on plagiarism so there is no question that all students know what plagiarism is and that plagiarized work cannot count.
Be Honest!!! Do your Best!!!
