The last post of the year....from yours truly, MRS. CONNER!

Today we finished Crash: A Tale of Two Species and worked on the activity. If students turn it in completed, they will get all of their points. If not, they will be exempt. I have truly enjoyed this year's class and I only wish you all the best.

BE GOOD, DON'T FORGET SIG FIGS AND COME VISIT US NEXT YEAR! :)

WV Studies-  Some students presented their projects for tech-steps worth 120 points.  Many did not.  Today was  the last day to finish.  Everyone else will need to present tomorrow. 

Science--Today we did a notebook check and worked on Crash: A tale of two species. We will finish it tomorrow and work on the assignment.

REMINDER: BRING $1 for the "Milton's Got Talent" for TUESDAY!

WV Studies--  Presentations will be next Tuesday May 27th for their tech-steps projects.

Science: Yeah...sorry about not being able to do the starfish lab today :) Instead we learned about the Red Knot and the Horseshoe crab (symbiotic relationship). We will finish it next week. I graded Bellringers today and will put in grades today.

WV Studies-  Students have one more day to finish their 120 point tech-steps project.  Presentations will be tomorrow, or next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Reading:  Test tomorrow on THE PIGMAN

Science: DISSECTION TOMORROW! Dress appriopriately (long pants and no open toed shoes)! Too many bears lab is due tomorrow along with the 1/2 sheet pre lab. Students can watch the youtube video before homeroom.

WV Studies- Continued Tech-Steps projects today. Students will have until Friday to finish, It will be worth 120 points. 

Reading  All Active Reading Sheets from THE PIGMAN will be checked and reviewed tomorrow.  We will have a test on THE PIGMAN on Friday (Students may use Active Reading Sheets).  Friday will also be the final BR check for the year.  Next week we will be watching The Boy in the Stiped Pajamas.

Science: What a great day! Today we were up in the mezzanine doing the "Too many bears" lab. Students worked on their totals to see if they would be able to "survive" in the wild given their food supply. Students also turned in their flipbooks for 20% off and their Kaibab workshheets before the bell. NO HOMEWORK TONIGHT! Be looking for a remind101 tomorrow with a pre-lab video for Friday's dissection and a REMINDER ABOUT DRESSING APPROPRIATELY FOR FRIDAY'S STARFISH DISSECTION!

Hello and Happy Monday to ya!

Science: The final day for extra credit was today! I had about 12 students TOTAL turn in extra credit and a few turned in multiple's for 40 points total (great job guys and gals!) We finished up the flipbooks and did the "too many crickets" activity on p. 101 in our books. I will be sending out a remind101 this afternoon with the specifics. Homework: Students are to take their flipbooks home, color them and finished the final tab and turn them in tomorrow.

WV Studies-  Tech Steps project - 120 pts.   Finish by Friday - presentations next week.

WV Studies-  Continued with tech steps project.  Will have next week to finish project. 

Reading  We will finish THE PIGMAN next week and will have a final test on it Friday.  All Activity Readings will be due to be turned in alsio on Friday.  Our final week of school will be spent watching THE BOY IN THE STIPPED PAJAMAS as a follow up to our Anne Frank unit.

Science: Today we worked on our flipbooks and I went over the extra credit assignment again. MONDAY IS THE LAST DAY TO TURN IT IN! www.cosmosontv.com

WV Studies-  Students are continuing on their Tech-Steps projects.  Updated grades were put on ed-line after school yesterday. They will be uploaded Friday. 

Science: Today the half sheet ticket out the door  was due for 10% off. We added to our assignment list and did a flipbook on 4.1 and 4.2. NOTE: MONDAY MAY 19TH  IS THE LAST DAY FOR EXTRA CREDIT TURN IN (www.cosmosontv.com). If you are gonna be absent, get it turned into me beforehand. WV Studies-  Continued Tech-Steps project on animating change.  Presentations will be next week.  Projects will be worth 120 points. 

Science: Today we turned in the Zork Genetics (10% off today and half credit tomorrow) as well as the ticket out the door. We also did the Genetics Quiz! The results will be posted on Monday.

Reading:  We are continuing to read THE PIGMAN. There will be a quiz Friday on Chapters 6 - 8.  Tomorrow is THE LAST DAY to complete the second AR Test for this nine weeks.

WV Studies-  Students are completing their Tech-Steps project for social studies this week.  The project is to do a powerpoint project where the animate a change over time.  Students will work alone with a partner of group of 3.  Today we went over directions and they are picking topics.  Wednesday students will start on the actual project following the instruction booklet provided by the program.  Projects will be at least worth 100 points and will be presented next week. 

Reading:  Thursday of this week, May 15, is the final day for all AR Tests to be completed.  All students must have two AR Test grades for this final grading period.  No test grade will be accepted after Thursday.  We are still working on the novel, THE PIGMAN.

Science: QUIZ ON WEDNESDAY! Students turned in their labs from Friday today. We went over what will be on the quiz on Wednesday. Students took their notebooks home to study. We also did Zork genetics and a ticket out the door. I sent out two remind101's on the assignments that are due on Wednesday.

WV Studies -  Finished labor presentations and notes.  Students have 4 panel assessment based on notes due Monday.  Students had time to work on it in class but need to finish outside of class.

4 panel assessment – The Rise of Labor Unions

·      Each panel will be worth 10 points.

·      It is a timeline so provide dates in each panel in sequential order.

·      It must be detailed for full credit.
Each topic for each panel was a topic that they took notes on .

Science: Today was the egg genetics lab. Students who didn't turn in their assignments from the past week did an alternate assignment. HOMEWORK: Both the alternate and the lab are due on Monday. Also, students need to study for the Genetics quiz on Wednesday! (they have a study guide).

WV Studies-  Presentations on Labor topics, will finish tomorrow and students will do assessments based on notes taken during presentations.

Science: Students turned in their Bikini Bottom Genetics worksheet from the PAWS trip yesterday (PAWS kids were exempt). TOMORROW IT WILL BE HALF CREDIT IF YOU TURN IT IN. Also, students turned in their human mendelian traits worksheet for 10% off. Since students were having trouble with that activity, I decided to model Punnett Squares on the board. Students added it to p. 56 of their notebooks. REMINDER: Genetics quiz is on Wednesday May 14th. Students have a study guide. There is NO HOMEWORK unless you didn't finish the afore mentioned assignments (Mendelian traits activity or Bikini Bottom Genetics).

Hello! Here are your class updates:

Science: Today we finished our Harry Potter Genetics in our notebooks and got with our phone buddy #1. Students looked at their traits and determined the genotypes and phenotypes of their offspring. The Mendelian Traits activity is HOMEWORK and is due before the bell TOMORROW or THURSDAY (If you are going on the PAWS trip).

Reading:  All students should have finished reading through chapter 8 of The Pigman. We will continue working on the book.  Second AR test due by the 15th.  Remember we are out next Tuesday so get that AR Test taken care of!

WV Studies:  Students worked in groups preparing for presentations on topics on the early labor movement.  We started presentations. We will finish Thursday.  Tomorrow - those not on the PAWS trip will work out of the civics book. Thursday we will finish presentations.

Happy Monday:
WV Studies-  Students finished their Labor Vocabulary booklets and we started the lesson on the labor movement in the early years of industrialism.  No Homework!

Science: Punnett squares and Harry Potter Genetics Day 1: p. 55 in notebook. Students will be getting their 1/2 sheet "study guide" tomorrow for the Quiz on Wednesday May 14th 2014. No homework this evening!

WV Studies-  Began WV labor Movement -- Students worked in groups making vocabulary booklets on labor terms.  No homework. 

Science: Today we watched a video about heredity (heredity rock anthem) and reviewed Genetics inforamtion from yesterday. Students did a my traits inventory and took classroom totals and graphed it (bar graph). Students also had an opportunity to finish their ExplOratorium activity for 10% off (Thanks to Savvy G and Josh E for coming in during lunch to finish it!). No homework :)
