Tuesday:  It's the last week folks:

WV Studies-  Today we completed last Thursday's poster assignment.  Because of our and the students last day being Friday, we have to have grades in.  The poster will be the last graded assignment.  This will be my last blog.  Thanks for the memories!

Science: Today we took a survey on Socrative. Students who haven't taken the test will take it tomorrow as grades are due by the end of the day. Tomorrow we will be in the computer lab taking the STAR Math test for Mrs. Holmes. Have a great summer. This too will be my last blog entry :)

Friday -  8th Grade Awards Assembly  8:00 to 9:00 am-  students may leave after the assembly!

Friday: 
WV Studies-  Students today took a survey on the performance of the team 8-A for this year.  We started a poster on state government.  We will finish it Tuesday when we return. It will be worth 30 points. 

Science: Students turned in their study guides and took a Genetics Quiz. I also updated grades, but there are still quite a few that are going in (Quiz, participation points etc...). NO HOMEWORK! Enjoy your three day weekend and remember why we celebrate Monday. It is so much more than a cookout :)

Tuesday:  Choir performance this afternoon.  Students preforming did a wonderful job.  Congratulations to those students.  Tremendous talent!!!

WV Studies-  Activity using e-wv article on WWII.  Students answered questions in groups from the article.  Will finish tomorrow. No homework.

Science: Today students worked on their study guides all class and turned them in. There is only homework tonight for students who finished their plastic egg genetics lab today. Those students need to finish their study guides to turn in tomorrow.

Math 1: finish bell ringer quiz. we will continue to review for a practice final on Friday.
Math 8: continue to work on powerpoint. Tomorrow is the last day to work on it. Then we will start presentations

ATTENTION ALL PARENTS AND STUDENTS: MILTON'S GOT TALENT IS WEDNESDAY AND STUDENTS NEED TO BRING $1 TO THEIR HOMEROOM TEACHER EITHER TOMORROW OR WEDNESDAY BY HOMEROOM TO GO!

Monday:
WV Studies-  Students used the newspapers to work on a current events assignment.  Students at ensemble are excused.  I will grade on what was accomplished last Thursday. 

Math: Mrs. Johnson was the sub for today. Math 1: reviewed for final (Went over test 1 answers) and the regular math worked on their powerpoints in the computer lab.

Science: Today students finished the plastic egg genetics lab from Friday and turned it in. Students also got started on their study guides for the QUIZ ON FRIDAY! Study guides are due halfway through class tomorrow! Students were encouraged to bring their notebooks home to complete their study guide, but will have some time tomorrow to work on it before turning it in. HOMEWORK: WORK ON STUDY GUIDE

Happy Friday:

WV Studies-  Groups presented today on the Great Depression interview.  Many were excellent. Monday we will finish the assignment started yesterday with the substitute using the newspaper.  No Homework.

Science: Today we finished Zork Genetics (20 minutes) and turned it in at the end of class. We started the plastic egg genetics lab and will finish it up on Monday. There is a TEST a week from TODAY! NO HOMEWORK unless if YOU WERE ABSENT! :)

Science: Today we did Punnett square review p. 57 and I checked the HP Notes on p. 56 for 25 pts. Students turned in their Human Mendelian traits activity before the bell. We also got started on Zork Genetics. No homework!

Wednesday:
WV Studies-  Some students gave their Great Depression interview today.  They were very well done.  Others needed to finish and will present Friday.  Tomorrow we will do something different to be announced tomorrow.

Science: A special thanks to Skylar C for fixing my iPad BOHR after three days of failed attempts :) Today we finished up Harry Potter Genetics on p. 56 of our notebooks ( I will be checking them tomorrow). Also, students finished Human Mendelian traits activity from last week, side 2 (5/7). It is homework although many students turned it in during class. We have 11 days of school left...don't SLACK! Do your best so you can start off on the right foot at Midland!

WV Studies-  Students worked on their 3 paragraphs from yesterday and turned them in.  Those not finished will need to turn them in next class meeting.  Then we began working on our group presentations project on the Great Depression.

Math 1: vocab bingo. vocab quiz tomorrow
math 8: finish finding where they are going, dates, hotels, and travel (plane or car)

Science: Quiz on p. 54 of notes (got time to study beforehand and it was only worth 10 pts). I also graded p. 54 of notebook and we started human mendelian traits activity side 1. No homework!

WV Studies- Continued lessons on Great Depression- Graphic Organizer then started Writing assignment, will finish tomorrow at the beginning of class.  No Homework except to finish interview with someone from the Great Depression. 

Science: Today was also the last day to take the bellringer quiz and take the test. Quite a few students never came to do this! Today we did "My Traits Inventory" and graphed our class totals and group totals. There is no homework today!

Math 1: p. 269 wkst. Vocab quiz friday
Math 8: start planning location of vacation, date, length, and how to get there and back.

English: typed essay. No homework

Science: Today we did Learn My Language (p. 54 in notebook). Mr. Colegrove wasn't here today so the test makeup is moved to tomorrow. No homework!

Social Studies: Today students finished their interview questions from yesterday and did a brief book writing assignment and started a graphic organizer. Homework: Students should have their interview prepared for tomorrow.

English: Typed high school essays; no homework

Monday:

NOTE: STUDENTS WILL NEED THEIR IPADS AND ACCESSORIES TO TURN IN ON WEDNESDAY MAY 6TH! ANY DAMAGES INCURRED WILL BE PAID FOR BY THE PARENT/GUARDIAN.

WV Studies-  Students finished up group questions on the causes of the Great Depression.  Then we began an assignment about living through the Great Depression.  Groups were to come up with 10 interview questions for someone who lived during the depression then one group member is to interview someone before class on Wednesday, students will create a presentation based on the answers to the questions.  Presentations will be Monday May 11.

Science: Today students took a pre-test on Genetics. Also, students had time to save/delete information off of their iPads. No homework.

Math 8: we started on subtracting bills to get to the end of our monthly income. We will continue this tomorrow. May 6,7 we will start on finding location, length of stay, dates, and how you are getting to and from your vacation. May 8,11,12 we are planning activities for each day of the vacation. May 13,14,15 we will be planning 3 meals for each day of the vacation, souvenirs, and any extra expenses. May 18,18,20 we will be in the computer lab working on a powerpoint for the vacation. Then they will present on may 21,22,26,28
Math 1: p. 253 worksheet #1-22,34 and fill in chart

Language arts: Began reflective/informative essays. They are due Thursday, the 7th for 8th period only. All other classes' papers are due Friday, the 8th at the end of class.

Friday:   Testing is over - Back to normal schedule today.  Next Wednesday students will turn in their I-pads.  They need their bubble case, charger and cord, case, and I-pad.

WV Studies-  Today we introduced our new topic -   WV and the Great Depression.
Students worked in groups answering questions about the major causes on the depression.   Today I checked I-pads for e-books that have yet to be turned in.  110 pt. assignment.  Monday will be the last day to turn that assignment in, (many students were unable to e-mail it to me, so I am grading them from the I-pad for those students.    No Homework!

Science: Today students voted on what we are going to cover the last 4 weeks of school. The choices were Genetics, Astronomy, Alternative Energy or Newton's Laws and Simple Machines. The winner is.....*drumroll please*............GENETICS! We will start on Monday. No homework! Also, students who still need to take the test on Monday in Mr. Colegrove's room. MONDAY IS THE LAST DAY TO MAKE UP THIS TEST!

Math 8: students got a rubric and what days certain items needed to be finished for the rest of the year for their vacation project.
